The Busyness of Life

Yup, life is very busy at the moment.... Kaleidoscope Children's Choir, KCFC Youth Choir, Handbell Choir, and Dinner Drama.... oy... lots to do. But today was a good day. I went to bed after midnight last night, and slept in, 'til 9. Felt soooooooooo good. Then I got up, sorted a buncha laundry, stripped the sheets off of the bed, stuck them into the washing machine along with the bathroom rug... and started in on the laundry. Came downstairs and had breakfast and some hot tea... Then started working on the computer, doing choir organizational stuff... mostly for youth choir. Had alot of emailing regarding dinner drama too. Jenny, our director, tossed a new couple of lines to me today. Had to work on memorizing them, and I did alright tonight.

I tell ya, it just felt good to be home all day. I was in my jammies until 3 PM!!! I mean, WHY NOT??? I worked at my desk at home, and did laundry and some straightening up. Who cares if I had my jammies on that whole time?

I finally got my shower and fixed my hair & makeup... and then worked on choir stuff some more, and then headed to the kitchen to whip up a quick meal. I reheated the spaghetti with turkey marinara sauce that I'd fixed a few days ago, and we really didn't eat.... and I tossed together a salad. Don & I actually ate at the table! Then by 6, it was off to church for rehearsal. Rehearsal went until almost 10 tonight... oy, that's a long time!

Right now we're rehearsing 4 nights a week... so basically, every night of the week for the next month will be taken up... It is fun, though, and being "off the book" with my lines & blocking all memorized makes it fun. But, I am a bit worried about the leads... they keep messing up their lines... sure glad I don't have one of THOSE parts!!! As it is, I'm not sure if my family will claim me after watching me perform.... I am a "neurotic" chef... and I play it sorta over the top... *roof eyes*

Wednesday's schedule:
take Cali to the groomer

go to the gym, spend 2 hours working out (cardio & trainer)
grocery store for a few things

pick up Cali
shower, hair, makeup
lunch
choir lesson planning
order youth choir sweaters
pack a dinner (turkey sandwich or salad or something)
head to church by 3
kcc @ 5:30
dinner drama rehearsal @ 6:30 - 9:30

home by 10.

The busyness of life..... *deep sigh*

And that's my life so far...

I'm Having a Day....

Okay, so I'm having a day..... a day all to myself!!! Woot! This morning, got up around 8:30... yummy, got to sleep in.... washed my face, brushed my hair & teeth, put my jeans & a t-shirt on, and hopped on the Harley with Don, and we took off to Pleasant Hill, a little pea-sized town about 15 minutes from Lee's Summit, and we had breakfast. It was this quaint little downtown area, and a little cafe that we ate at, and it felt like I was in a scene in a movie! LOLOL We had a nice breakfast, then hopped back on the Harley and took a different route back to Lee's Summit. Lovely ride....

I went to Home Depot to get some lawn & leaf bags & some potting soil & I also bought a new shrub, a holly plant. I had all intentions of working in the yard all day. But what did I do? Well, I did go to Home Depot, but then I came home and took a nap!!! And now I'm watching home improvement shows and just generally goofing off. I'm playing a game on the computer, blogging, checking emails... AND I ordered Minsky's pizza ON LINE! LOL I did get chicken out of the freezer to thaw for dinner, but when Don says, "Let's order pizza." I don't argue! LOLOL

Christian's birthday party was last night. I must have taken 100 pics... I'll post some later. She had alot of friends over, and it was a very nice party. Dyan & Jory got Christian a red rider tricycle... and he loves it. He calls it a vroom vroom... ROFL. The only person missing from the party was Meghan.... she was at a football game with her guard girls. But Drew came, and that was so nice. We all had a good time...

I suppose that's enough for now...

I like having a day....

Pics from North Carolina

At Grandpa Bru's house.... riding a vroom vroom.... pretend, of course!

Looking up at Grandpa Bru.... they had such fun together.
ECU Pirate... Christian was pretty scared of this... Grandpa Bru is a big ECU fan... and we rode through the university while there... very nice.

At Grandpa Bru's Aamco shop. This is the Parts Room, upstairs.
At dinner, Dixie's Seafood Restaurant, I think. Great tasting seafood! Yum!!
Dad & Micki.
MMmmmm, CRAB LEGS!!!!
Being silly, eating those yummy crab legs... what a nerd!!!

Grandpa Bru & Christian, at the shop.

In Grandpa Bru's office at the shop. Grandpa Bru had fun showing off his great-grandson!

Christian: "WOW, CAAAAARS!" He thought it was so cool to be able to look underneath the cars... He is his father's son!

Hope you enjoyed these pics! I'll update more later.... gotta get the kitchen cleaned and head to rehearsal. Oh!!! I found a bunny today!!! Yay! It's a prop for the play.... I chase someone all over the stage with it.... what a riot!

North Carolina

Dyan, Christian and I are currently in North Carolina, Greenville, to be specific. We are visiting my dad & his wife, Micki. We are having a lovely time, just visiting a lot. It's been just a few days of sitting around all the time, talking, eating, watching movies, watching Christian... we are having a good time.

But....

Tomorrow we fly home! I will be very anxious to get home. I always miss Don when I'm away from him. I cannot wait to get back home, to my nice, comfy bed with the pillowtop mattress on it... and I cannot wait to see my Cali. Don & Jory will be meeting us at the airport at 2:45 tomorrow afternoon. I think that Christian is ready to go home too.... just yesterday, he said "airplane!", and I asked him if he wanted to go back on the airplane and go home to see Daddy, and he broke into this HUGE smile and said "UH HUHHHHHH"... I think he's homesick.

I took lots of pics of my dad with Christian. Will post them when I return home.

And that's my life so far...

Random Thoughts

1. It's hard to type with Cali always trying to kiss my fingers!

2. I'm so busy these days.... I can hardly stand it!

3. I skipped bells last night, just because I needed a night at home... and I don't even feel guilty!
So THERE, Carolyn! ;-P

4. DDTW rehearsal is tonight... and they're gonna take cast pics - headshots. Better make sure I look goooooood. (Don't Drink the Water)

5. I'm having fun working on this play.... it is really quite hilarious. Woody Allen is the playwrite... so, ya know, we had to change a few words / ideas. After all, this will be performed in a church... I absolutely cannot go out and take the Lord's name in vain... (did I spell that right?)

6. I hope my kids and mother in law come and watch the play.... Don has his ticket already for opening night. Table 8. So, sign up! $19 per ticket, unless you're my MIL, then it's $17.

7. I'm getting my hair colored today. Gonna go darker... chestnut with blonde & copper highlights.... pretty!

8. I have to enter my bills today into quickbooks, and pay some. Ugh.... big task... will take several hours, cause I always have to LOOK at EVERYTHING!

9. I miss Beauty.... she was such a sweet, sweet girl....

10. I have to do my laundry....

11. I have a 7:30 flight Thursday morning.... with Dyan & Christian. We're going to NC to see my dad... Will come home Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to the trip.

12. My dad is "uber" excited to have us coming over.

13. Christian is excited to go on the airplane!

14. Better make sure that the portable DVD player is all ready to go!

15. Need to pack my bags tomorrow... guess I'll do that after KCC rehearsal.

16. I'm missing DDTW rehearsal Thur. night.... oh well.....

17. Youth Choir rehearsal last Sunday was freakin' AWESOME! These kids are on fire for the Lord and what He can do through this ministry. It was so refreshing! They are Big Big Dreamers!

18. Found out my friend Julie is a Democrat! Where did I go wrong???? LOL

19. Don's analogy:
You are taking a college course. You study really hard. You work hard. You make all of the assignments, term papers, turn everything in on time. You earn an A.
Your classmate is taking the same course. He cut class alot. He didn't turn in all of his assignments. He goofed around alot... he didn't apply himself to make his grade acceptable. His grade is an F.
The Democrat's solution would be to have the first student take part of his A and give it to the student who made an F. That way, everyone can feel good about their grade, being a C. That's the only fair way to do it, right? Then everyone is happy.

No thanks!

20. Why isn't the liberal media asking Barack Hussein Obama if he feels guilty for leaving his kids so much to be on the campaign trail? Wouldn't that be fair, since they seem to be attacking Sarah Palin for the very same thing? What makes a mother a better parent than a father? Nothing.... Isn't it acceptable for the father to be a full time parent when the mother is working full time? I believe that at least one parent needs to be at home full time with the children. Who says it has to be the wife?

21. I'm completely sick of the campaign ads already.... ENOUGH. If only the liberal left-wing radical media would speak the TRUTH. And what is WRONG WITH CHARLIE GIBSON anyway???? What a moron he is... Condescending... irritating, insufferable. He lacks total grace & any sense of propriety. Yay for Sarah being able to stand up to him. And she did it with grace. I was very impressed.

Oh, and that lipstick comment from B. Hussein Obama? TOTALLY meant as a slam to Palin's lipstick referral in her RNC speech. Noone can convince me otherwise. Even the people behind him knew that it was a slam. Again, the liberal media.... Ugh! Any NORMAL person watching that knew what he was talking about. How dumb do they think we are????

22. Okay... enough procrastination. It's 9:20 already..... need to be at Dyan's by 1:30. Better get busy! Lots to do....

23. Oh, and on the 29th of Sept? We go to 4 - 5 DDTW rehearsals a week!!! Wowzers!

And that's my life so far.....

RIP Sweet Beauty

At 5:45 this morning, Beauty went to Kitty Heaven.... she died peacefully, with Don & me at her side. Don said she wanted to wait and die when someone was with her.... and we were.

Something weird happened.... and you'll think I'm nuts, but I'm gonna blog about it anyway... I'd gone back to bed and tried to get more sleep... and I was awakened by a very loud, sweet "meow" next to my bed. I heard 2 of them... Beauty the Ghost was saying to me "Hi Mom... I'm happy now! I'm playing with Blackie & Sammy, and we're having so much fun! I'm so happy now!!" I swear I heard that...

The hardest thing, in addition to losing a furry baby, is seeing your daughter's heart breaking... It's just something that a mom cannot fix.

Beauty the Cat - a sad story

Beauty is dying...

We got Beauty when she wasn't even 2 weeks old... she was abandoned by her mother. In fact, her eyes weren't even opened... And she had a vertigo problem, where one paw was caught behind her head and she kept rolling over and over and over.... She was found on a construction site in the Bay Area, and I took her to my vet and immediately got her on meds. Also, had to nurse her for about a month or two, and well, I had to wipe her bottom to stimulate her to go potty every 2 hours. Totally gross.... but she survived, and so did I. I fixed up a box for her with a big stuffed kitty in it, and a heating pad wrapped in a towel. Meghan was in 2nd grade at that time. She loved Beauty. We named her Beauty, because we figured that some BEAST came along and stepped on her. Beauty and the Beast was a popular movie at that time. Whenever Meg came home from school, she'd sit by her box and read stories to her, and bottle feed her, but she couldn't pick her up until she was bigger and stronger. So, Beauty basically was Meg's cat. Dyan had Blackie, I had Princess, and so Meg got to keep Beauty. That was 16 1/2 years ago.

Four years ago, Beauty was diagnosed with FIV... the cat equivalent of HIV. She got it from a cat fight. She has plugged along well, until recently. She went into Feline AIDS with the onset of a urinary tract infection. We cleared that up, but she hasn't been the same.

Oh, and back in 1996, when we moved to Kansas from California.... Beauty ran away. She took off 3 days after we got to my mother in law's house. (we stayed with her for a year while waiting for our house in the Bay Area to sell) Anyway, Beauty was gone. Meg was so upset.... but we prayed every night for Beauty. I reminded Meg that God is so big, and He knows where Beauty is, and that He would protect her. Fast forward 3 months and one huge snowstorm later... a farmer called, and said he thought he had our cat. We went out there, and went into his garage, and Meg called "Beauty" and she lept out from behind some stuff, and jumped straight into Meg's arms. We could NOT believe it! We were jumping with great joy! The Lord protected her and restored her to us. She didn't have a scratch on her. She had walked 9 miles, heading west. It was all undeveloped land, and full of coyotes. By all intents and purposes, she should have been killed. But God is good, and we got our cat back.

Beauty stopped eating over a week ago. She has gotten very weak. And she's a skeleton of a cat. A furry, cute, beautiful skeleton. She wasn't interested in food, even when I tried hand feeding her.

This morning, I was awakened to the sound of a loud thump... I thought maybe she got on my desk and jumped down.... so I went to investigate, and she had apparently stepped out of her bed and crashed onto the floor. She was lying so still, I thought she had died. Her breathing is very shallow and she doesn't have the strength to hold her head up or move. I called Meg, and she came right over and has been holding her ever since.

I also called the vet, and made the arrangments of what to do with Beauty when she dies.... it's all taken care of.

Beauty has been a wonderful cat. She's been curious, funny, fun to play with. Sometimes in California, I'd see her in the back yard flipping something into the air, and I'd call out "Beauty's got a snake!" and more than once, I've had to rescue garden snakes from Beauty. She loves being outdoors, sitting in the sunshine. She loves Cali, and really attached herself to her, especially since she missed Princess so much when she died. Princess' death really upset Beauty. She acted very strange for a while. So, when Cali came to our house, Beauty was like, "FINALLY.... my dog is back!"... LOL

We will miss Beauty.... Yet I'm so grateful that she is dying at home, and that I'm not taking her to the vet to be euthanized... she would be terrified, and I don't want her last moments being filled with fear. She is dying peacefully. No moaning or groaning... just very calm. Shallow breathing, very little movement. She will soon be in kitty heaven.... where she won't be suffering from FIV or AIDS....

We love our Beauty.

WHAT WAS I THINKING????
Okay, happy thoughts..... so here's a picture of Christian riding on the rocking horse that his Great Grandfather made for Dyan for Christmas when she was 2 years old. It is an heirloom... and Christian loves riding the horsey.... Oh, and yes, that is Papa's helmet & dew rag that he's wearing... so he can be just like Papa... ;-P

Randomness... Part Deux, oh, and Zoo Pics

Well.... the first day of choir went very well. The Lord has blessed this ministry by bringing lots of new little kidlets to the fold. We are heavily weighted on the young side, but it's like starting over, so says my music director, Roger. He's right. I remember when I first started this choir at this particular church, I had 13 kids join. But over the last 10 years, the choir ministry has blossomed. Thanks be to God for that! I think our top numbers were 62 during one of our musicals, and this year, we're at 42. Last year, we were at about 39. I've been directing for 22 years now... that is a LONG time... but I do love it. And I do love the children. Seeing them again on Wednesday was like being at a family reunion... hugs were had by all!!! I love those kids... Adorable children.

***

Today, Dyan, Christian & I will be going to the Plaza. The weather is perfect today... high will be 72, and the sun is out! I think it sounds like a perfect day to have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory outside on the patio by the fountain. Lovely... Also, we'll stop in and visit our friend Becky (Wilkerson) who works at the Coach store... maybe I'll find something new???!!!???

***

I was going to go to the Worship Arts retreat tonight... but I tell you what... I'm so tired of being gone every evening.... so I told Roger that I'd have to retreat from the retreat. I just can't do it right now. I'm still burnt out on ministry stuff... but I keep on going anyway... and with the Dinner Drama rehearsals & choir rehearsals, I'm just too busy. So, I'm staying home this weekend instead of retreating. I hate not to be there, though... I love retreats. oy, what to do?

***

My Internet friend, Julie, received my goodie box this week from the UPS man. I put lots of stuff in it... a Point of Grace CD which has this song about being able to forgive yourself & turn up the music & dance... I love it... I bought one for myself too. And I put several books on how we know that God is real... the Case For books... Her husband knows about them & has read them, so I'm grateful for that. I want Julie to know Jesus like I do.... so I pray for her. And there was lots of other stuff in that box too... which I won't go into details about. Anyway, I received this heartfelt thank you... and I cried. I feel so blessed to know Julie, and I care for her. She is a great mommy, and a funny writer... a very talented writer. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you ought to. I have a link to it here. She is my special friend who lives in Colorado. I'm so glad that I met her... Please join me in praying for Julie...

***

We fixed the wire in the back yard last weekend. I tore out all the old stuff, and Don put up the new wires, and they're alot sturdier. So, no bunnies can chew threw them, I hope! And now, Cali is once again wearing her "I'm-a-Bad-Girl" collar. Get close to the fence, Missy??? Shock of your life! MUAHAHAHAHA At least the neighbors won't be having to bring my "wunderlust" dog back home now. She is sooooo strong willed!

***

Okay, here are some pics from the trip to the zoo.... which didn't last all that long, since it was sooooo unbelievably HOT and HUMID and Mr. Christian was very cranky!!! I wanted to throw a fit too, I was so hot! But, I'm afraid that people would REALLY be staring at us! LOL
